Ready those dank memes, because Pop Team Epic is getting an anime that will air during the Fall 2017 season! Manga creator Bkub Okawa said the “crappy anime” is not a late April Fools’ joke and that it’s really going to premiere in October.

Pop Team Epic is a surreal yonkoma series that is drenched with sarcasm, memes, and dark humor. The series follows two 14-year-old girls; Popuko and Pipimi. The official website doesn’t bother with offering a plot synopsis, instead quoting William Shakespeare and saying, “There is no darkness but ignorance.”

The anime is being produced by Kamikaze Douga, which is the studio behind the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime’s multiple opening sequences. The key visual offers up a warning to the manga’s publisher, stating, “you’re going to regret this, Takeshobo…”
