Amazon Japan has announced the top-selling lists in each category for the first half of 2015 (from November 17, 2014 to May 17, 2015). The most popular manga volume at the largest online store was the premium limited edition of the last 14th volume of the Neon Genesis Evangelion manga series illustrated by the anime character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. Meanwhile, the 16th volume of Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan mange series took first place in the ranking for the Kindle edition manga.
The top-selling anime disc during the period, acclaimed anime director Seiji Mizushima’s first original full CG anime film Rakuen Tsuiho -Expelled From Paradise- reportedly sold over 70,000 units of its DVD/Blu-ray at Japanese stores. Aniplex shipped 30,000 units on the release day, December 10, 2014, but the demand among the fans was much bigger.
