Which popular anime characters look best in a swimsuit? Thousands of fans came together to answer that question.

Otamart—a popular Japanese app that specializes in anime, manga and idol products—have recently announced the results of a survey asking fans which anime characters look best in traditional summer wear, specifically a swimsuit or a yukata. The survey categories have been divided based on gender and clothing. The results have even been boiled down to what color looks best on them and even the type of swimsuit.

Standing at #1 in the anime/manga girl in a swimsuit category is Love Live!‘s Nozomi Tojo, who fans like to see in a purple bikini. trailing behind her at #2 and #3 is Eli Ayase and Maki Nishikino of the same show in a light blue bikini and red bikini respectively.

Umi Sonoda of Love Live! tops the anime/manga girls in yukata list wearing navy colors, with Nozomi also making this list at second wearing purple and retaining her third place status is Maki Nishikino wearing red.

When it came to boys in swimsuits, characters from the swimming anime Free!—often clad in tight Speedo swimwear—easily made a splash by topping the list with Haruka Nanase, Makoto Tachibana and rival Rin Matsuoka in first, second and third respectively. The rest of the Iwatobi Swim Club—Nagisa Hazuki and Rei Ryūgazaki—also made the list, albeit at lower positions. Also worthy of note is the hefty amount of male characters from Uta no Prince Sama that made the list.

Masato Hijirikawa made first place in the yukata-wearing division, with fans preferring him in a navy color. Behind him in second if Seijūro Akashi from Kuroko no Basuke in white with third place going to Gintoki Sakata from Gintama also in white.

The same survey was even held for Japanese voice actors and celebrities. Voice actress/singer Kana Hanazawa (Castle Town Dandelion, Psycho-Pass) topped both the swimsuit and yukata rankings while voice actor/singer Mamoru Miyano (Assassination Classroom, Show By Rock!!) pulled off the same results for the boys’ side.
