“Berserk” Manga Author Helps Create Original Material For Anime

The way that the new Berserk TV anime is structured, the series will be skipping the Conviction arc’s Lost Children chapter. That storyline from volume 14 of the manga takes place after Guts’ battle with The Count, seen in the first episode of the 1997 anime, and features his encounter with Rosine, the moth girl seen later in that earlier anime. To handle its abscence, manga author Kentaro Miura has gotten involved for the anime-original episode 3.

The new 2016 issue 15 issue of manga magazine Young Animal explains that episode 3, “Night of Miracles,” which gets its MBS broadcast today, took elements from manga’s volume 14 and expanded them out with Miura helping on the script and designs.
