Fujio Tokita, ‘Castle in the Sky’ Voice Actor Passes Away

The anime industry has lost another great person.

It was announced that Fujio Tokita, a Japanese voice actor and actor passed away. He died at age 81 due to a brain hemorrhage. His close family will hold a funeral service his eldest son Seiji as the chief mourner.

Born in 1937 in Nagano prefecture, Tokita was known for voicing Uncle Pom in Studio Ghibli’s animated film Castle in the Day. For nearly two decades, he was the narrator for the anime series Manga Nihon Mukashi Banashi. It first began airing in 1975.

Tokita formed a theater troupe together with stage director Masakane Yonekuna. He was featured in a some drama shows like Kyosen Maetake Gebageba and Bus Dori Ura
