Disney’s CinemaCon presentation from last month has announced that the movie will be released in April 14, 2017, however, they have rescheduled the release to an earlier date, which will be on March 31, 2017, which means we might get to see Hollywood’s take on Masamune Shirow’s classic manga a couple of weeks earlier than previously announced.

DreamWorks executive and legendary director, Steven Spielberg (Jurassic Park, E.T., Indiana Jones) is a huge fan of the original anime movie and has wanted this project to be realized for a long time now, and with this new Hollywood adaptation of the classic manga already starting filming this year, Spielberg will really be getting what he wants soon. According to reports, Scarlett Johanson was offered 10 million US dollars for the lead role.
