One Piece fans may want to enjoy Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece—it may be the last long and epic manga he will be writing.

What’s more, it’s steadily traversing its way to the finish line, as Oda-sensei reportedly confirmed that the manga has already reached 65% of is full run, Anime News Network reported.

Of course, this does not mean that it will be ending anytime soon. Oda-sensei previously said that the story had reached 60% back in 2012. Doing the math, that suggests there will be over a quarter of a decade more of One Piece.

Something to take note of, however, is the fact that One Piece may be the last manga that will have this many chapters and arcs. Oda-sensei had already hinted that he cannot create long pieces such as this.

One Piece was first launched back in 1997, and it continues to be published in the Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan. It has been animated by Toei Animation as early as 1999, with the over 750 episodes to date.

One Piece remains as one of the manga/anime series that are considered great despite the epic proportions of their lengths. Not many survive this long and still retain a fan base such as it enjoys now. It’s also one of the more commendable anime series that don’t dole out arcs’ worth of fillers, so I’m sure the remaining 35% will see the story’s satisfying resolution.
