Ohtaka’s series has been serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine since June 2009. The weekly series currently has 363 chapters and will have 367 by the time it ends.

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic was inspired by One Thousand and One Arabian Nights, but is not an adaptation of the work. While it features a similar setting and uses characters from Arabian mythology, Magi features an original story.

The story chronicles the adventures of Alladin, Alibaba, and Morgiana. During his travels, Alladin meets Alibaba, a young man who plans on exploring a dungeon and claim its treasure. Despite looking like a child, Alibaba learns that Alladin is a magician who chooses kings that will follow a righteous path. However, there are those who wish to manipulate Alladin’s power.

A-1 Pictures has produced two 25-episodes anime season based on the manga. Lay-duce has adapted Ohtaka’s Adventure of Sinbad spin-off series as a 13-episode anime.
