“Assassination Classroom” Film Draws Over 2 Million Moviegoers

Though its prior expectation was not so high among the fans, it has become one of the most successful Japanese films of this year. The official Twitter for the live-action film adaptation of Yusei Matsui’sAnsatsu Kyoushitsu/Assassination Classroom manga announced on April 13 that it had drawn over 2 million moviegoers so far.

The film, starring two idols of Johnny & Associates, Ryosuke Yamada (Hey! Say! JUMP) as Nagisa Shiota and Kazunari Ninomiya (Arashi) as the voice of Korosensei, still ranked second in the weekend box office of April 11-12, earning an impressive 2.3 billion yen in total. While its strong competitorDoraemon: Nobita’s Space Heroes already dropped to third, Assassination Classroom has kept the position for three weeks in a row.
