Cardcaptor Sakura Returns with a New TV Anime Series

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Cardcaptor Sakura this year, the franchise launched a sequel manga series called Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc… and now it’s getting a TV anime series adaptation!

The anime project was first teased back in February, but will be completely revealed in the upcoming January issue of Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine on December 1st.

The Clear Card Arc follows Sakura’s first year of junior high school, after her graduation from Tomoeda Elementary School.

Morio Asaka (Cardcaptor Sakura, Chobits, Chihayafuru) will be returning from the first TV anime series and two films to direct the new series at Madhouse, as well as the following cast members:

Sakura Tange as Sakura Kinomoto
Aya Hisakawa as Keroberos
Junko Iwao as Tomoyo Daidōji
Motoko Kumai as Syaoran Li
Megumi Ogata as Yukito Tsukishiro
Tomokazu Seki as Tōya Kinomoto

The new series is scheduled to premiere in January 2018 on NHK in Japan.
