Mangaka Gosho Aoyama is one of the hardest working mangaka in the business. He has a strict schedule and often doesn’t sleep much. Now, all that hard work seems to have taken toll on his body, and this has forced the legendary mangaka to take a break and receive medical treatment and to “recharge.” Of course, this means that Detective Conan has to go on an “extended hiatus” for Aoyama’s treatment.

Shogakukan’s Weekly Shounen Sunday revealed in their combined third and fourth for 2018 revealed that the hiatus will begin next week. In a message, Aoyama joked that he may have overdone things with his work on recent manga and anime projects. He also joked that he may use the hiatus to begin playing the Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp mobile game.

Meanwhile, the magazine’s editorial department apologized to readers and said the magazine will announce the details of the manga’s return when it is decided.

Well, it looks like we won’t be having any Detective Conan manga for a while, but then again, the mangaka does need to rest and get some sleep. Hopefully, he comes back refreshed and better than ever, so get well soon Gosho Aoyama!
