Here’s why I believe Kaido is Ares, the Greek god of war. They have been similar in so many ways.

Kaido’s Lust for War

“A World this mundane isn’t worth keeping around! Time to light the match to the greatest war this world has ever seen!!!”

The God of War Ares possesses an ability called War Manipulation, the power to influence all forms of conflict including mental, physical, spiritual and conceptual ones, regardless of the area and numbers involved, control how they progress and draw power both from the conflict alone as well as the dying.
Kaido proved that he posses this ability 2 times so far in.

Why he wanted to go to Marineford?

Everyone knew that the Marineford War would be the End Of Whitebeard as he wanted to sink the Marine HQ to the bottom of sea with the cost of his life and he also said: “I am at the top of this era. There is no ship to carry me in the new era.”
It is also said that Kaido wanted to eliminate Whitebeard in the War.
Like I said Kaido is able to draw power from Conflict and Death through War Manipulation so if he was there to draw the power from Whitebeard’s Death and from the Conflict between Marines and Whitebeard Pirates aswell as the Shichibuaki, he would have gotten an extremely powerful.
Conclusion: Kaido wanted to draw power from Whitebeard’s death and war.

Why did Eustass Kidd fight Kaido?

If you look at their faces you’d know that they were terrified but they could have atleast escaped and Kidd is someone who wanted to run away from Kizaru and Kuma eventhough he ended up fighting a Pacifista so he’s also smart and thinks before he makes a move.
So why did he fight Kaido when he could have run or atleast escaped?
War Manipulation – power to influence all forms of conflict including mental, physical, spiritual and conceptual ones.
Looking at their faces we know that they didn’t want to fight Kaido so Kaido could have used his War Manipulation power to make them fight against their will.
Conclusion: Kaido used War Manipulation to make the Kidd Pirates fight him and it ended up with Kaido winning with ease.
