Anime fans are definitely in for a treat. The new anime series of the classic 90’s hit, Card Captor Sakura, has finally received a release date.

The official website of the television anime Card Captor Sakura: Clear Card just announced that the premiere date (via Anime News Network) of the prequel series will fall on a Sunday, January 7, 2018. After releasing each episode on Sunday, Clear Card will then repeat episodes on Fridays at 11:45 pm.  Not only will the highly anticipated prequel feature the original cast of Card Captor Sakura, it’ll also bring in original director, Morio Asaka.

A new promotional video for Card Captor Sakura: Clear Card is also scheduled to land during the ongoing rerun of selected episodes taken from the original Cardcaptor Sakura tomorrow, September 22. The original shojo manga written and illustrated by Clamp was an instant hit when it first got published back in 1996 and the series ran for about four years, all the while selling more than 12 million copies.

Its anime was also pretty popular when it released back in 1998. While the plot of Clear Card remains unknown, this new anime series is reportedly designed to bridge the Clear Card arc with the original Sakura Card Captor anime.
