Live-action movies adapted from Japanese manga or anime have not been very successful lately. Fans of the original series of the “Ghost in the Shell,” “Dragon Ball,” and the recently made “Death Nothave” were upset at bad attempts of trying to make a story closer to reality. Fans are so upset by some live-action movies, that some are talking about planning to hijack the films before they are even released. Hollywood just can’t seem to get it right.
However, what Hollywood lacks is what the Japanese do right. When adapting their extremely beloved anime and mangas into full live-action pieces, the country has been quite successful.
One of these films is the adaptation of “#Rurouni Kenshin.” The movie has been so successful that it even had international screenings outside of Japan. It’s one of the most celebrated live-action movies ever made which showed fans that it is possible to make good live-action films. It is a movie that is innovative yet so true to the original series.
With successful follow-up titles like “Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno” and “Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends,” will the production make any more films?
Reports recently surfaced about an alleged fourth “Rurouni Kenshin” #Live Action Film through a Japanese article. According to the news, one of the cast members is currently in trouble.
#Emi Takei who played Kaoru Kamiya in all of the “Rurouni Kenshin” live-action movies is currently in hot water after a controversy about her contract.
As it turns out, Takei recently married a man from a Japanese band called “Exile” and is currently pregnant with their first child. The 23-year-old actress is happy about this development, however, her pregnancy and marriage have caused her to break a few things in her contract. This has caused many to speculate about her involvement in the movie
Another film on the way?
Her agency is less than happy about her violation. Oscar Promotions who handles Takei is currently talking about penalties regarding her breach of contract. The actress seems to have jeopardized her role in the fourth installment of the live-action “Rurouni Kenshin” film.
The Japanese article stressed that the 23-year-old’s role in the movies is something that cannot be ruled out, expressing that the actress might just lose a great role.
In regards to the fourth “‘Rurouni Kenshin” live-action movie, the company who handles the production is yet to make an official announcement. Fans of the series will have to wait for more news, especially now that one of the leading cast members is in trouble. With Takei’s important role in jeopardy, production might be put on hold for recasting. More updates are expected to come soon.
