Is It Ok To Watch Hentai? Is hentai a bad addiction? for both guys/girl

Is It Weird to Like Hentai?

Legally

This one is a little dependent on where, how, and why you are watching the anime. Oh, and of course, what “type” of anime.

If you watch it online, like I do, be aware that some sites (especially free ones) could be hosting illegal content. Gogoanime is one of them, as it has a very large collection of 100% free anime. I try to stay away from it as best I can. If the site offers a large, free collection (and by large, I mean upwards of five hundred animes), it probably isn’t legal, and you should do some research to check.

You could also get in legal trouble if any of the following are true:

Anime is illegal where you live
You are underage and watching hentai anime
You are watching the anime to learn how to harm someone
You are illegally watching anime (as I stated above when I was talking about illegal sites)
If none of the above are true, you should be safe.

Morally

I will warn you now: I am a watcher of darker anime.

There is anime that deals with: a taste for murder, rape, genocide, homicide, sociopathy, depression, self-harm, slaughter, suicide, etc etc. You may want to do some research before watching, lest you end up in a situation like I did (watching an anime series about a person with a taste/need for murder when I was expecting suicide*), that, luckily, didn’t squick me out or worse.

You could also accidentally run across a hentai while looking for something else.

Either way, you should be careful. Oh, and, yes, anime can be dangerous in that respect.

Mentally

As previously stated, there is anime that deals with some pretty heavy material. Some people with PTSD or depression could become emotionally triggered/affected negatively.

Basically, if you think the anime’s content will have a negative impact, do not watch it.

And, yes, it can be mentally dangerous.

Physically

Yes. Of course. Unless you are a cutter or dramatic squeamish person, anime will not harm you.

Now, you may gain an addiction, but that’s another matter entirely.

Did I address which way you were talking about, or was there another?

(*Kara no Kyoukai (The Garden of Sinners) is the anime I mean. Do not watch if squeamish.)

If you’re looking to get into anime, try Death Note, Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi (Sunday Without God), or Sword Art Online. They’re good starter anime (Though Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi is, admittedly, rather darker(ish) ). Psycho-Pass is also a good one.

You can Google “anime flowchart” to get a comprehensive flowchart for beginners.

If you aren’t a new anime watcher… Why did you ask this question? Did someone tell you it was unsafe? Or maybe harmful?
