‘One Piece’ Creator Just Teased Weevil’s Return

Edward Weevil is probably one of the biggest mysteries in One Piece that we’ve seen so far. Weevil was first introduced to us all after the events of the Dressrosa arc. He was seen along with his mother, and he claimed to be the son of the Legendary Pirate, Edward Newgate, also known as Whitebeard. His connection to Whitebeard alone was something that made him an important character to the story, but it seems there’s more to him than just that. Weevil then disappeared from the story, but it was only a matter of time before he appeared again. In One Piece Chapter 903, we saw a photo of Edward Weevil, saying ‘Warning’ in the newspaper.

He’s definitely up to something, and according to the recent talk that’s been going on about him, he’s going to be talked about a lot at the Reverie, and he’s also probably going to play a huge role in the upcoming Wano Country arc. Thanks to Sandman from Arlong Park forums, we now know of an incident between Oda and his editor in regard to Edward Weevil. When Oda first decided to introduce Weevil, he said to his editor, “A super cool character is going to appear soon”. Sugita was excited to hear this at first but was disappointed when he saw what Weevil looked like. He didn’t seem cool to him at all. Sugita was, however, afraid to let Oda know that Weevil wasn’t cool at all. This ultimately led to Oda explaining Weevil’s role to his editor, who was amazed to hear what the future held for this character.

All this talk of Edward Weevil certainly means that he’s going to become someone really important to the story very soon. I can’t wait to see what he’s actually about. Right now, it seems like he’s hunting down Marco and Luffy, but he’s certainly being manipulated. When he appears, I’m sure we’ll have interesting things to expect from him.
