Devil Fruits are special fruits that exist in the world of One Piece. They possess mystical abilities that grant special powers to a person that consumes them. Generally speaking, the Devil Fruits are classified into three types, and these are: Paramecia, Logia, and Zoan. There are also sub divisions to these categories, like Zoans have Ancient Zoans, and Mythical Zoans.
Meanwhile, Paramecia has Special Paramecia, which was recently added to the class. Each kind of Devil Fruit gives a unique ability to the user. Paramecia either turn, or allow a person to produce some sort of substance, or effect. Zoans allow transformations into creatures, and Logia allow transformation into elements, or forces of nature.
That’s basically everything we know about Devil Fruits. But, a huge part of what the Devil Fruits actually are, is still a mystery. While we do know what the Devil Fruits can do, we don’t know what connection they have to the souls that exist within them, or why they get weak in water’s presence.
These things are yet to explained. We also don’t know where they came from, and if there actually is a Tree of Devil Fruits. But, don’t worry. All these questions will be answered soon. According to Eiichiro Oda himself, all these questions will be answered by a certain scientist in the future of One Piece, and he’ll let us know what Devil Fruits truly are.
At this point, I think it is obvious who Oda is talking about here. It is none other than Vegapunk. If you don’t know who that is, Vegapunk is a scientist who works for the Marines, and is probably the wisest person in the world of One Piece. When Franky went to Bulgemore, he exclaimed that Vegapunk was 500 years ahead of the rest of the mankind. That certainly does make him very wise.
Vegapunk also created the use of the revolutionary Sea-Prism stone and used it in weapons, and even in ships. He created the Devil Fruit that Momonosuke ate, so I think it is safe to assume that Vegapunk knows a lot about Devil Fruits, and all it’s secrets. We’re probably going to be hearing everything about these mystical fruits from him in the future, and I can’t wait to see him. What about you? Are you excited for Vegapunk’s introduction in the series?
