Hey everyone! Today, I’m going to talk about the One Piece manga chapter 888, and Luffy’s confrontation against Charlotte Katakuri. But, before that, I want to let you all know that this post will contain heavy spoilers from both chapter 888 (obviously), and chapter 889 (potential spoilers). So, please, continue only if you want to read the spoilers.

The latest One Piece chapter saw Monkey D. Luffy go back to the Mirror world, and there, he saw Charlotte Katakuri waiting for him to return. Katakuri told him that he was way stronger than him, and even Luffy knows that there is a difference between their power levels. However, he still is dead set on beating Katakuri. At this point, even Luffy doesn’t know how though. Luffy has been fighting Katakuri for a long time now.

It has been over 3 hours, and maybe even 4-5 hours since the two have been battling it out. For the most part, it is Luffy who has been on the losing end, and even Gear 4th isn’t helping him pull off a victory here. But, there is a way Luffy can defeat Charlotte Katakuri, and the latest One Piece manga chapter has all but confirmed it. I’ve talked about it before as well, and I’m saying it again.

Charlotte Katakuri is weakening, slowly. When he fought Luffy at first, he was able to dodge every single attack of his with his Observation Haki. He could create holes in his body, and then proceed to beat Luffy. But during their second encounter, something is different. Katakuri is not using his Observation Haki to dodge. He is manually dodging Luffy’s attacks.

So, yeah. Charlotte Katakuri is definitely weakening. I suspect that we already know the cause behind this. Earlier, when Katakuri was having his delicious meal, Luffy intervened, and saw his face, and because of that Katakuri couldn’t eat. He used to have his Mirienda at the same time every day. But this time, because of Luffy, he hasn’t been able to do so. Luffy himself confirmed that Haki is a power that runs out.

So, even for someone like Katakuri, Haki will eventually run out. Further, Katakuri is able to look into the future with Observation Haki, which is likely taking a huge toll on his Haki pool. It is because of Katakuri not being able to have his meal, and his Haki slowly getting weaker, that he will lose to Luffy, and it is pretty clear looking at the chapter. Meanwhile, Luffy has eaten Katakuri’s Mochi, and he even ran from him to rest. Luffy now has the edge in the matchup.
