Osamu Akimoto’s Long Running Manga “Kochikame” Is Returning One Year After Officially Ending

It was announced in the latest 42nd issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump released today that a new chapter of Osamu Akimoto’s comedy manga series Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kouen Mae HashutsujoKochiKame for short, will be published in the magazine’s next 43rd issue to be released this Saturday, September 16 (since the next Monday is one of Japanese public holidays, Respect for the Aged Day, Jump will be released two days earlier than usual). While not much details are available now, it is expected to be a one-shot episode return.

Kochikame ended its 40-year serialization in the magazine since 1976 on September 17, 2016, just one year ago. The final 200th tankobon was also released on the same day. Its total print run have exceeded 150 million copies in Japan.
