Shanks vs Luffy will be Luffy’s first fight as Pirate King!

Like many others I got the impression Shanks only remaining purpose in the story is to die for hype. Especially after Summit War it feels like more than obvious he will die through Blackbeards hands for the ultimate Teach hype.

But then an event happened which start to screw up that idea. You all know what I am talking about, Reverie happened and Shanks appeared having a talk with the Gorosei.

Since then, two questions came up in everyone’s mind.

1. What is the connection between Shanks and the Gorosei?
2. Who is the pirate Shanks wanted to talk about?

In this theory I will try to give a reasonable answer for both the questions.

The decision of the Roger Pirates
To answer the first question let’s go back to Sabaody. We all know after reaching Raftel the Roger Pirates learned everything about the “True History”. Do you rember what Rayleigh answered Robin after she asked him about the “True History”?

I think the most important part is not that she should take her time to the world, I think the statement “Perhaps you’ll find a different answer…!!”. What is the answer the Roger Pirates found? Whenever I think about the question it reminds me of the end of the second movie of the Matrix Triology (Just in case you don’t know the movie… The protagonist found out that there is always a chosen one and then he had to make a decision, either to keep everything like it is or to start a war which he will most likely lose and would cause many death).

That’s why I think they found the truth that even if the world is not fair or led by “evil” people it would be much worse if they spread the truth. It would most likely cause a huge war with many death. Like many others I think Shanks was either with the Roger Pirates while they reached Raftel or managed to reach Raftel on his own and I think he has the same answer as his for former crew, spreading the truth would cause a war with too many loses! This way he became something like a Keeper of Balance to avoid that anyone will find Raftel.

Gorosei want outlaws to protect Raftel
But what does the Gorosei have to do with this. I think Gorosei doesn’t want anyone to know the true history. At Ohara Spandain was forced to shoot Clover before he was able to reveal the Ancient Kingdom.

This indicates the Gorosei doesn’t even allow their own Secret Service known as the CP0 to know the truth. And now think about what happend after the Summit War.

The Gorosei discussed who will replace Whitebeard, but World Government using the advantage starting to conquer the New World was not an option (That’s why I also think Gorosei are not happy with Sakazuki as Fleet Admiral). That”s why I came to the conclusion that the Gorosei wants pirates, outlaws or criminals to rule over the New World to have protection over the secret of the past. This would also explain why we never heard about a period where the World Government ruled over the New World.
The Era was heard of:

• ROX (Rocks)
• Roger, Whitebeard, Shiki
• Yonko
• Yonko + Worst Generation

And now think about what happens if Gorosei not only knows Shanks learned about the True History, but that he also thinks the truth have to stay hidden, exactly “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” while the enemy in that case is True History.’

The Pirate Shanks wanted to talk about
After after answering the first question it’s time to answer the 2nd question. Who is the pirate Shanks wanted to talk about? The first one who came in my mind was Blackbeard. Shanks fearing the one who is the suppose to kill him would fit right? But what bothers with that answer is the time. Why did he want to warn the Gorosei about Blackbeard at that moment and not before? That’s why I start to doubt it was Blackbeard. But if not Teach who else? Well the answer is simple Luffy. I mean right before the Whole Cake Island accident happend and Shanks saw this a sign that their meeting will happen soon, which would be the moment Luffy have become the Pirate King.

I think he wanted to tell the Gorosei that he himself will take care of Luffy. But what would that actually mean? I think once Luffy found One Piece Shanks will appear and I think Shanks sees his successor in Luffy, the one who will become the next Keeper of Balance like he became the successor of Roger.

But we all know Luffy is the kind of guy who will want to change the world. That’s why I think Shanks will either test him if he is really the one able to change the world or really try to stop him (I mean angry Shanks was hyped). Both possible, but I really start to believe Shanks vs Luffy will be Luffy’s first fight as Pirate King.
