As part of its 25th anniversary project, a new TV anime based on Yoshinobu Akita’s fantasy light novel series Majutsushi Orphen/Sorcerous Stabber Orphen is confirmed to be in the works.
The first volume of the series was published from Fujimi Shobo’s Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint in May 1994, and the whole series has printed over 10 million copies. It was previously adapted into two TV anime by J.C Staff: Soucerous Stabber Orphen (October 1998-March 1999/24 episodes) and Soucerous Stabber Orphen Revenge (October 1999-March 2000/23 episodes).
The anime’s official website opens today with an anime teaser visual featuring the protagonist Orphen. No Details about its staff, voice cast and schedule are currently available. The novel author Akita posts his comments on the new adaptation as below:
“Wow, it is an anime. Everyone must think ‘Why now?,’ but that may be how the things work. After more
than twenty years, I break into a cold sweat more than anyone as facing the novels I wrote… Though the
original novel series was written by a stupid young dude, the anime will be be produced by proper people.
So it would be greatly appreciated if you watch it.”

The new TV anime project will be also announced on the wrap-around band of the bunko edition of
“Megami Mirai (Part.2)” to be released on April 2.
