Top 10 Bleach Bankai

As we all know, Bleach is a manga / anime that got famous partly on the cool powers wielded by the Shinigami, and what can be better than a Shinigami’s ultimate weapon – his or her Bankai?

#10 – Kokujō Tengen Myō’ō

Top 10 Bleach Bankai

Komamura’s Bankai uses its enormous size and power to copy its wielder’s movements, multiplying its effects hundredfold and allowing Komamura to inflict tremendous amounts of damage. Impressively strong yet deceptively speedy, its Dangai Jōe technique grants this Bankai almost pure invincibility to any physical attack.

#9 – Konjiki Ashisogi Jizō

Top 10 Bleach Bankai

Konjiki Ashisogi Jizō’s main ability is unleashing its poisonous breath which is lethal to anyone but Mayuri himself and Nemu. Highly versatile, this Bankai’s true strength lies in the fact that Mayuri is able to constantly modify and adapt the poison according to his enemy’s skills.

#8 – Sōō Zabimaru

Top 10 Bleach Bankai

Having recently discovered his Bankai’s true name, Sōō Zabimaru is now much more compact (and powerful!) than the long, trailing snake-like structure we were familiar with for most of Bleach. With this new form, Renji can more readily control and take advantage of Zabimaru’s length; also not forgetting his new technique, Zaga Teppo which was strong enough to defeat Mask in one devastating hit.

#7 – Hakka no Togame

Top 10 Bleach Bankai

Both beautiful and deadly, Hakka no Togame freezes anything within its sphere of influence, causing it to crumble away. While definitely one of the most powerful Bankai out there, the main drawback lies in the fact that it also affects its user and as such, is potentially dangerous through prolonged use.

#6 – Tensa Zangetsu

Top 10 Bleach Bankai

Of course, what is a Bleach list without Ichigo? In Bankai form, Tensa Zangetsu is best-known for its ability to be used in hyper-speed combat through compressing all of Ichigo’s power. In addition, Ichigo can also perform an enhanced version of his signature attack, Getsuga Tenshō.

#5 – Kamishini no Yari

Top 10 Bleach Bankai

Possessing extraordinary extension and contraction speeds, Kamishini no Yari is a deadly combination of extreme speed and power. While its formidable length initially acts as a distraction to his opponents, Gin knows that his real advantage lies in his Zanpakutō being the fastest, instead of the longest. The blade also contains a lethal poison which can dissolve and break down cells instantly, although it was not quite enough to defeat his former master, Aizen.

#4 – Daiguren Hyōrinmaru

Top 10 Bleach Bankai

The most powerful ice-based Zanpakutō and Bankai in Soul Society, Daiguren Hyōrinmaru allows Hitsugaya to use a variety of highly effective and unique techniques including Sennen Hyōrō, which crushes enemies using a forest of ice-pillars and his ultimate technique, Hyōten Hyakkasō.

#3 – Senbonzakura Kageyoshi

Top 10 Bleach Bankai

A fan-favourite, Senbonzakura Kageyoshi is both a visual spectacle and an extremely powerful and versatile Bankai. Using its three main techniques: Senkei, Gokei and Hakuteiken, Senbonzakura Kageyoshi allows Byakuya to wield enormous offensive power in a variety of patterns, easily overwhelming opponents.

#2 – Katen Kyōkotsu: Karamatsu Shinjū

Top 10 Bleach Bankai

Only activated as his last resort, Kyoraku’s Bankai is a devastating sequence of attacks, each more powerful than the last. Starting off with Ichidanme: Tameraikizu no Wakachiai where any wound Kyoraku inflicts on his body will be reflected on his opponent’s body and finishing with Shime no Dan: Itokiribasami Chizome no Nodobue where the opponent’s throat is strangled using a thread and subsequently blown up, this deadly Bankai also has the ability to manipulate the surrounding environment by making opponents feel gloomy or depressed.

#1 – Zanka no Tachi

Top 10 Bleach Bankai

It is probably no surprise that the most impressive Bankai belongs to the strongest Shinigami in Soul Society – the previous Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13, Yamamoto.

With four attacks each named after the four compass directions (North, South, East, West) and equally mind-blowing in their own right, old Yama-ji’s Bankai abilities allow him to heat his body to temperatures beyond comprehension, call forth an army of slaughtered past victims and slash at enemies with flames so intensely powerful that anything the blade touches is instantly incinerated.
