Usually all movies are supposed to have a happy ending. But, things don’t always go according to the plan. So, today I have made a list of the Saddest anime movies of all time. This list is based on my own opinions. Enjoy!
10. 5 Centimetres Per Second
The movie follows the story of two people who were a couple. But, they were separated by distance. They promised to remain in touch but slowly the distance began to take its toll on both of them. It shows the hardships of a long distance relationship.
9. Children Who Chase Lost Voices
The movie follows the story of a girl named, Asuna. She finds herself tangled in a mystery that will makes her fall for her protector. Also, she is also lead to a secret that may hold the key to life itself.
Yukito travels throughout the land along with his puppet show. He is out for a quest to find the Winged Maiden. Yukito was told about the winged maiden by her mother. But, his journey comes to a halt after meeting with a girl named Misuzu. This causes Yukito to stay in a small town.
It is almost identical to the anime series. The story is about a lazy bum named Tomoya, who has no interest in anything. But, after meeting a girl, things take a turn for the good. How will Tomoya end up after meeting this girl? It’s worth watching.
6. Grave of the Fireflies
The World War II is coming to a stop. However, things are not going well for siblings Seita and Setsuko. They lose everything that they hold dear in an air raid. They forced to live a life full of misery. The siblings fight to live around disease and starvation.
5. Garden of Words-
It follows the story of a boy who is interested in making shoes. One day he meets a girl in a park. This starts an epic journey. The two meet whenever it would rain. However, they soon realise that things aren’t gonna be easy because of their personal problems.
4. Pokemon Mewtwo Strikes Back
This is the first ever movie of the Pokemon franchise. The story revolves Mewtwo which was created as the result of a cloning experiment. Our heroes, Ash and Pikachu must put a stop to Mewtwo’s plans in order to ensure the continuation of the human race.
3. Voices of a Distant Star-
It is the story of a long distance love and messages between a boy and girl. It is set in the year 2046. Technology has advanced drastically and human kind is reaching new heights.
2. Wolf Children-
It follows the story of girl who falls in love with a were wolf. It might sound twilight-ish but it’s actually much better. She gives birth to two children who are werewolves as well. Her husband suddenly passes away. Now she is stuck with the responsibility of raising two children on her own.
1. Ano Hana the Movie
The series is retold through the different main characters’ points of view. Also, there is new additional material from their childhood, during the original series, and one year after the conclusion of the series.
