Anime Series Like Fairy Tail

Anime Series Like Fairy Tail - Best Anime Series Recommendation |List of Top Anime - Akame ga Kill,Black Clover,D. Gray Man | Crunchyroll & Netflix

After meeting a powerful fire mage named Natsu Dragneel by
chance, celestial mage Lucy Heartfilia discovers he is part of the famous Fairy
Tail wizarding guild. Returning home with him, she decides to join, a decision
that will take her and Natsu on a series of life-changing adventures.

It was only a matter of time before the shounen genre came for wizards, but the resulting Fairy Tail melds adventure and fun characters perfectly into a great show. If you crave more anime recommendations like Fairy Tail, then head on down below.

For Fans of Mages

Black Clover

After being abandoned at the same church, Asta and Yuno grew
up together. Together they grew up aiming for the same title – The Wizard King,
the strongest wizard in the kingdom. However, it became soon apparent that
while Yuno has skill with magic, but Asta couldn’t use it at all. However, this
all changed when they were attacked and Asta was given a strange grimoire that
granted him skill in magic.

As these are both long-running shounen shows about people wielding magic, they unsurprisingly have a lot in common. It would be easier to tell where they differ, and they primarily differ in tone. Fairy Tail has a brighter color palate and is often a lot more bubbly. While Black Clover has fun moments, it is features darker colors and a less bubbly characters.

magi anime

Magi

After spending his life in isolation, Aladdin and his djinn
Ugo set off on a journey to see the world. Soon after, he becomes friends with
Alibaba, a young merchant that has ambitions of wealth, after he destroys his
supply cart. In order to pay of the damages, Alibaba suggests the supremely
powerful Aladdin helps him conquer a dungeon full of danger and wealth.

Fairy Tail really embraces a variety of magic while Magi takes a lot of literary inspiration. The magic feels more rare in Magi, but can reach similar heights of epicness. Magi also feature more of a mature story despite having a rather young main character.

Familiar of Zero

Louise is a self-absorbed mage at the prestigious Tristain
Academy. Unfortunately, she can’t cast magic right and her classmates call her
Louise the Zero. One day during a summoning ritual, Louise messes it up again
and summons a boy named Saito. At first she treats him as a slave until she
discovers a powerful brand on him, the sign of a legendary familiar known as
Gandalfr.

If you enjoyed the laughs in Fairy Tail, but you weren’t so
much into the action, then Familiar of Zero is a good follow up. It still has
action scenes, but it is very much a magical comedy much of the time. It also
has a nice building romance as well.

For Fans of Discovering a New Perspective

noragami-anime

Noragami

There will be times where you may happen across an odd phone
number written in red. If you call it, you will get in touch with a young man
who introduces himself as the Yato God. This Yato God is a minor deity and the
self-proclaimed God of Delivery. He dreams of having millions of worshippers,
but there isn’t a single shrine dedicated to his name. He spends his time doing
odd jobs for spare yen until the day his weapons partner deserts him. Just as
things are looking down, he happens across a young school girl that saves him
from a car accident by taking the hit for him. She survives, but her soul
becomes loose. Together they set out to find a way to tighten her soul back up.

In both Fairy Tail and Noragami, you follow a girl character that is introduced to a whole new world by a boy she meets at random chance. Furthermore, while both series start off on the lighter side, as they progress, you get to see the darkness present in the world.

akame-from-akame-ga-kill

Akame ga Kill

Tatsumi is a naive boy from a rural village that makes the
trip to the city in order to join the military and help his hometown. However,
after he is rejected, he ends up joining Night Raid, a group of assassins part
of a revolutionary movement to overthrow the government. From there, he must
fight.

Full disclosure, Akame ga Kill is a pretty brutal show compared to Fairy Tail. However, it does feature a new member recruited into a group, like Lucy into the Guild, in which they perform missions for their various causes. It has nice light-hearted moments like Fairy Tail, but it is also tempered by brutal deaths.

seven deadly sins anime

Seven Deadly Sins

In this feudal world, the realm is protected from those who
seek to spread their evil by the Holy Knights. However, in the kingdom of
Liones, a small group of Holy Knights known as the Seven Deadly Sins sought to
overthrown the king only to be driven off. Now, ten years later, the world
hunts for the Seven Deadly Sins, but the Holy Knights have now turned their
blades on the king and taken control of the kingdom. Now it is up to his third
daughter, Elizabeth, to find the Sins and help them take back control.

Both series have quite a similar feel as they follow these
legendary groups, but it displays that they are really just normal, albeit
incredibly powerful, people. Furthermore, you get to experience this through a
female character that immediately develops deep relationships with them.

For Fans of Lengthy Stories

Naruto

Orphaned at a young age and ostracized by his village due to
the nine-tailed fox demon that was sealed within him at birth, Naruto aims for
the top. His dream is to eventually become the leader of his village, the
Hokage. However, first he must actually become a ninja and gain strength enough
to rise to this pinnacle.

Both are long-running shounen shows, and obviously if you like one there is a good chance you will like the other. What really carries both is the large and lovable cast of characters. There’s are lots of power ups and plenty of people to ship. You even get to see an ending to both, which is nice.

anime series like inuyasha

Inuyasha

Kagome’s normal life came to an end one day when a demon
dragged her down into a well at the shrine where she lived. When she next woke,
Kagome finds herself 500 years in the past in Japan’s feudal area, a time in
history fraught with both war and demons. It is there she learns that she is a
reincarnation of a priestess tasked with guarding the Shikon Jewel. With the
jewel returned to the world with her, Kagome must fight off the demons that
want to gain its power, including Inuyasha, a half-demon that was once a lover
of her past self right up until she sealed him to a tree.

What a lot of long time Fairy Tail fans find most charming is the character relationships that are formed and character stories that are told. Throughout both of these series, you watch the characters grow not only in power, but as people.

dgrayman anime

D. Gray Man

After three years training with one of their prestigious
Generals that saved him as a kid, Allen Walker is finally ready to join the
Black Order, an organization of exorcists that fight Akuma and their leader,
the Millennium Earl. With their Innocence weapons, Allen and his fellow
exorcist embark on a journey to stop the Earl’s plot of ultimate destruction.

Fairy Tail has tons of unique magic, which makes the fights
interesting. D. Gray Man is the same, everyone has their unique abilities that
are special to them. This makes every character you meet exciting to watch
fight because no two fighters are ever the same.
