While Ainz is an undead, he hides his identity compared to Anos who just straight up tells everyone who he is. As is the case with OP main characters in a fantasy world, Ainz attracts thirsty women to him, but it is less of a harem show and more of an action fantasy.

Akira Oono manages the MMORPG Infinity Game. After 15 years, he has decided to shut down the servers. However, at midnight, he finds himself in the game and transformed into Hakuto Kunai, the demon lord of the MMO. Further puzzling things, he saves a girl that he does not remember creating in the game.

What these series have in common most is their main characters. They are both demon lords, but the cool and collected type of demon lord. They have vast powers in their world and use them to different means. Demon Lord, Retry, however, is less of a harem show and more your standard isekai.

How Not to Summon a Demon Lord

In his MMORPG, Takuma boast overwhelming strength and was referred to as the demon king. However, one day he gets summoned to another world, still in the appearance of his character. There he discovers two girls that use the same magic he uses to turn others into slaves. However, due to his magic reflect skill, the spell was turned back on them.

Despite the isekai nature of How Not to Summon a Demon Lord, it has many similarities to Misfit of Demon King Academy. The main character is ridiculously strong, cocky as hell about it, and his harem is primarily two girls that were charmed by him early.

Right on the verge of taking over the world, evil Demon Lord Satan was foiled by the hero Emilia and was forced to retreat through a dimensional portal. He ends up in this world where he is without powers and without money. In order to pay his way, he gets a part-timer job slinging fast food.

Both series feature a demon king that ends up in a new reality due to various reasons. While The Devil is a Part-Timer is more of a comedy show, it does have its nice moments of action where the main character gets to flex his OP muscle.

After graduating high school in Heaven, angels are sent down to Earth to guide humans down a righteous path. Heaven had high hopes for Gabriel, the top of her class. However, when she descended, she ended up skipping classes and getting addicted to online games.

While Misfit of Demon King Academy has more fights and mysteries, Gabriel DropOut is a distinctly comedy show. However, it does feature angels and demons outside their normal world and acclimatizing to their new modern reality.

Blue Exorcist

Humans and demons have always been separated by two different worlds, humans in Assiah and demons in Gehenna. The only way to travel between the worlds is by possession, which is how Satan, the ruler of Gehenna, wages his war. Blue Exorcist follows Rin Okumura, a somewhat trouble teen and son of Satan. However, while his father wants him to help conquer the human world, Rin decides to become an exorcist to fight him instead.

If you crave something equally as visually nice, but a little more action-oriented, then Blue Exorcist is more your style. Both series feature demon main characters that are faced with various battles. However, Blue Exorcist is more of a traditional action shounen series.

After magic, once thought to be folklore, was turned into a technical skill, schools to teach it opened all over. At one such school are siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba. While Miyuki excels, her brother is placed in a lower class due to his seemingly magical ineptitude. However, he has rather unique abilities that make him quite irregular.

If you enjoyed the visual effects in Misfit of Demon king Academy, then Irregular at Magic High School will be even more thrilling. Not only that, but aside from the whole reincarnation aspect, they actually tell a similar story of a main character that is very powerful, but an outcast at their magic school.

Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor

Sistine is a dedicated student at the magical academy where she hones her skills. She eventually hopes to solve the great mystery of the Sky Castle, but when he teacher retires, the replacement, Glenn, turns out to be a lazy bastard. How is it this incompetent man was hand-picked as the best magician in the academy?

Like Misfit of Demon King Academy, Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor features a strong mage that both attracts a harem and maintains a cocky attitude. However, instead of being a student like Anos, he is an instructor. Both series feature a lot of flashy fights and some decent comedy as well.

Wise Man’s Grandchild

After being hit by a truck and killed, a young man was reincarnated into a new world as a baby. He was found and raised by a legendary sage named Merlin and given the name Shin. However, while Merlin taught him his skills and Shin grew in to an extremely powerful mage, living in the forest failed to teach Shin common sense and other people skills.

Both shows feature incredibly overpowered main characters that had a gift for flashy magic since birth because they were reborn into a new world. However, Shin doesn’t have that same sense of arrogance because he was isekai’d and lacks the necessary social skills anyway.
