Returning to Anime? The Best Anime Series of 2015 That You Missed

Returning to Anime? The Best Anime Series of 2015 That You Missed - Best Anime Series Recommendation |List of Top Anime - Assassination Classroom,Blood Blockade Battlefront,Food Wars! | Crunchyroll & Netflix

Been away from anime for awhile? We understand. You go out
and have your life, anime will always be waiting for you when you come back.
They always come back. If you are finally coming back and stopped watching
sometime in or before 2015, here are all the best anime series that you missed
and definitely should go back and watch.

Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend

Tomoya Aki is your typical otaku who takes on part-time jobs
to fund his anime and light novel obsession. However, one day when he was out
riding his bike, he catches the beret of a girl and is so captivated by the
scene before him that he sets out to create the ultimate dating sim. While he
struggles to do so, he eventually recruits three of the school’s most popular
girls, that also happen to be good at drawing, writing, and music as well as
otakus themselves to help him create it. In this new doujin circle, he also
happens across the girl that inspired him, but she was not what he expected and
certainly doesn’t stand up to his 2D expectations.

This show is unique because it is a harem show about a guy
that really isn’t interested in them. Instead, he is focused on making his gal
game.

Food Wars

food wars anime

Ever since he was a child, Yukihira Souma has helped his
father cook in his diner. The definition of learn by doing, he thinks that he
has mastered his technique, but still can’t beat his father. After his dad
decides to travel the world, he enrolls his son in the Tootsuki Culinary
Academy, a brutal academy for upcoming chefs where only ten percent are
actually able to reach the high standards demanded to graduate.

Who knew you could combine lewd visuals with food. However, even if you aren’t into the ecchi scenes for comedy (or for the ecchi) this series is actually really educational about food and cooking.

Seraph of the End

seraph of the end fight

After a mysterious virus killed every human over 13 years
old, the vampires rose up with a promise to protect the survivors. The only
thing they asked in return is donations of blood. For Yuuichirou and Mikaela,
they have grown tired of being livestock and pose a daring escape plan. It
ultimately fails with only Yuuichirou left alive. However, after joining up
with a mercenary company, he swears vengeance on the vampires, no matter the
cost.

Vampires are so played out, but Seraph of the End managed to
breath a little life into them by making them not hiding in the shadows, but
instead ruling as overlords. While this series can stumble sometimes, you look
forward to the next fluid action scene.

Assassination Classroom

anime series like assassination classroom

After the moon is mysteriously turned into a permanent
crescent by an unknown calamity, the students of class 3-E at Kunogigaoka
Middle School are presented with a daunting task: assassinate the creature that
blew up half the moon before the year’s end or die when the world is destroyed.
The creature in question, dubbed Koro-sensei by his class is super fast, super
strong, and by all respects, indestructible. However, while the students try
and learn how to destroy him, they also learn that he is the best teacher that
they have ever had.

What made AssClass unique is that it doesn’t always take itself seriously. A class being trained as assassins has the potential to be terribly dull, but the comedy of this series and the fact that it utilizes the whole class as actual unique characters makes it amazing.

My Love Story

My love story anime

With his tall statue, bulky muscles, and mean face, Takeo
Gouda is not exactly a hit with the ladies. Men and women alike find him
terrifying, but one day after saving a girl from a molester on the train, he
meets a girl that might just love him as much as he loves her.

It is the most unlikely of love stories, one where a cute
girl actually falls in love with the gorilla-faced ugly bastard with a heart of
gold. It is short, satisfying, and a nice change from lewd comedies.

Blood Blockade Battlefront

blood blockade battlefront anime

Vampires, fishmen, supersonic monkeys – they are all normal
residents living alongside humans in Hellsalem’s Lot, formerly known as New
York City. When a gate between Earth and the Beyond popped up there three years
ago, old NYC became dominated by monsters and now Libra, a secret organization,
is tasked with keeping it in order. However, for main character Leonardo Watch,
he is no one special, just a hobbyist photographer. However, when he obtains
the All-Seeing Eyes of the Gods, he finds himself recruited into Libra.

While it is easy to overlook, this series has a fantastic
array of powers and characters solving unique problems in an action series that
only gets more addicting.

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?

anime series like is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon

In the fantasy city of Orario, there is a massive labyrinth
underneath it. For brave adventurers, glory and fortune can be found within.
However, in order to tackle the challenging monsters inside, adventurers join
guilds of strong gods and goddesses. However, for newbie adventurer Bell
Cranel, no good guild will have him, except for Hestia, a goddess with no
followers. Together they team up to grow strong and find glory.

When this series came out, Hestia and her boob-hoisting ribbons were the subject of many memes. However, underneath those boob ribbons, the series got really good near the end of the first season and has continued onward.

Overlord

overlord isekai

As the final hour approaches the life cycle of the MMO
Yggdrasil, Momonga, a powerful wizard and leader of the dark guild Ainz Ooal
Gown, is there to see it off. However, to his surprise, the servers don’t go
down and even stranger is that all the NPC characters have come alive with
their own unique personalities.

In a crowded genre of “transported to another world that was an MMO,” Overlord stands proudly above all the rest due to its characters, powers, and actually interesting story. Or perhaps because it was one of the first to do it and it did it really well.

Gate

Red Dragon from Gate

Japanese Self-Defense Force solider and otaku Youji Itami is
in the Ginza district of Tokyo feeding his hobby one afternoon when a gate to
another world opens and medieval soldiers flood modern day Japan. While Itami,
in conjunction with the local police, manage to save many civilian lives, his
hero status forces him to go beyond the gate with his fellow soldiers to
explore a mysterious new world filled with swords, magic, elves, and dragons.

You don’t know how much you wanted to see mounted cavalry ripped apart by a machine gun nest until you watch this series. It is medieval isekai meets modern military.

Prison School

The Hachimitsu Private Academy has always been a prestigious
all-girls school that is prized for its high quality education and ridged
discipline. However, they are now accepting boys as well as girls. With a mere
five boys in the schools, they think they are the luckiest men in the world. That
is, until they get caught peeping and have their personal freedoms taken away
in the brutal prison below the school.

This series is a bit hard to quantify. On one end, it is a BSDM ecchi comedy and on the other end it actually gets really in-depth with its school hierarchy story. Mostly people watch it for the ecchi, though.

Shimoneta: A World Where Dirty Jokes Don’t Exist

While Japan was once the pit of sexual depravity, new morality
laws and the Peace Making system used to monitor the populace has seen Japan
rise to the peaks of public morality. With all lewdness censored to the point
that children do not know how babies are made, an infamous erotic terrorist
named Blue Snow has risen. One day, average high schooler and son of an
infamous erotic terrorist himself, Tanukichi Okuma, is saved by Blue Snow on
his way to his new high morality high school, only to be drawn into her new
erotic terrorist organization, SOX.

Don’t let the title fool you, this series is nothing but
dirty jokes. You would be hard pressed to find a scene without one in it. It is
rapid fire dirty jokes throughout and it is glorious. Though, admittedly, not a
good pick for people who hate that sort of sexual humor.

Monster Musume

monster musume anime

With his parents abroad, Kimihito Kurusu is living the quiet
alone life. Or rather, he was until an incompetent interspecies exchange coordinator
made him the caretakers of a Lamia named Miia. With a supernatural creature now
living in his house, it serves to not only break up his peace, but attract
other supernatural beings as well.

While this is a very ecchi harem series, you have to respect
them for trying to make otherwise icky creatures into sexy women.

Osomatsu-san

In the Matsuno household, there are six identical siblings
-the self-centered Osomatsu, the manly Karamatsu, the reasonable Choromatsu,
the cynical Ichimatsu, the hyper Juushimatsu, and the cute Todomatsu. Despite
all being adults, they all live as NEETS. This is their journey of trying to
become proper adults.

If you are looking for a nice parody comedy, Osomatsu is one
of the top-tier. It moves at a fast clip, but it name drops tons of different
series in its gags.

One Punch Man

one punch man anime

In order to pursue his childhood dream, the ordinary and
unimpressive Saitama trained so hard that his hair fell out. However, his hard
work paid off, now it only takes one punch to defeat most villains in the city.
Unfortunately, beating opponents in one punch is boring. However, that all
changes when a cyborg named Genos, wanting to be his disciple, suggests that
they join the Hero Association together.

A hero that can beat people in one punch? Boring. Well, it
turns out that it is boring for the hero too, which is actually what this
series is about.

Himouto! Umaru-Chan

Doma Umaru from Himouto! Umaru-Chan

Umaru Doma is, by all accounts, the perfect student. She is
beautiful, smart, and respectful, at least until she gets home, anyway. Once
that door closes, Umaru dons her hamster hoodie and transforms into a bratty,
lazy, junk food-gorging otaku that is fully dependent on her responsible older
brother Taihei. Whether it comes to playing video games or eating the right
snack combinations, Umaru knows how to live.

Umaru is both adorable and a huge dick to those around her.
Yet, they still made her pretty easy to love since this series is filled with
little winks to games and anime series.

School Live

top 20 anime feature zombies

Yuki Takeya is in love with school life. She loves it so
much that she joined the School Living Club with three other girls, their
supervising teacher, and the club dog Taroumaru. This club makes the most of
living at school. However, Yuki’s blissful school life is all a delusion. The
real purpose of the School Living Club is to prevent Yuki’s fragile reality
from shattering. In reality, these girls are surviving the zombie apocalypse by
barricading themselves within the school.

You know what a good use of moe is? Using it in horror. In
School Live, not only does it have an interesting element of delusion, but the
snap between cute slice of life and vicious zombie survival is quite nice. It
is a good zombie survival anime series alternative to the T&A-filled High
School of the Dead.

Snow White With The Red Hair

Shiraiyuki is an herbalist that lives a normal life in the
country of Tanbarun. However, when her beautiful red hair is noticed by the
Prince Raji, he tries to make her his concubine. She then decides to cut her
hair and flees into the forest. It is there she is rescued by the second Prince
of neighboring Zen Wistalia. In order to repay her life debt to him, she sets
her hopes on becoming the court herbalist in the capital of Clarines.

This may have some fairy tale inspirations, but Snow White
with the Red Hair is much better than the classic fairy tale. It is still very
much a love story, but with a female protagonist that isn’t completely useless
and with thirst as her only defining personality trait.
