“Attack on Titan” 16th Volume Sells One Million Copies in First Week

The 16th volume of Hajime Isayama’s mega hit manga series Attack on Titan was released in Japan in two editions on April 9. According to the Oricon’s latest report, the 463-yen regular edition sold 868,694 copies, while the 3,067-yen limited edition, which came with the second episode of the two-part OVA “Kuinaki Sentaku (A Choice with No Regrets),” sold 187,940 units. The series has 44 million copies in print as of the release of the volume.

By comparison, the regular edition of the 15th volume, released on December 9, 2014, sold 1,010,545 copies and the limited edition with the OVA first episode sold 187,917 units in its firs week. Though the expensive limited edition still sold same amounts, the regular edition lost about 141,000 copies. The huge drop suggests that the series has started losing its casual fans?
