Boruto’s Curse Mark Origin, Name & Power Revealed! He’s Not The Only One?!

Hey guys! How’s it going on? As I promised in my last post, I would be telling you guys about the different things happened in the Boruto Manga chapter 23 released recently. There was this one shocking subtle reveal that most of the people missed out on. It was about Boruto’s curse mark and related to the Otsutsuki clan as well.

So remember, when the Otsutsuki clan attacked the Chunin exams and just ruined everything and captured Naruto? Sasuke had to protect Sarada and Boruto, then finally Boruto realized the worth of his father and how powerful and caring he really is? Well, yep, we all know in the end it was Boruto’s rasengan which defeated them.

Well obviously, it wasn’t just Boruto’s power and no one technically thought that ‘Boruto’ defeated the Otsutsuki clan members – Kinshiki and Momoshiki. They just powered up Boruto’s special rasengan and gave him chakra. Well, in the end it was Naruto and Sasuke’s power. BUT, that’s not the case. Just because of that finishing blow…

Boruto is no longer a normal human / shinobi. For the manga readers, you all very well know, what happened when they defeated the powered up Momoshiki. He was talking to Boruto and telling him that he was in some type of a curse now and got that ‘curse mark’ on his palm. All this because Boruto defeated a ‘God’ – Otsutsuki.

Well, only Sasuke and Boruto from the village knows about the mark’s relation with Otsutsuki clan. Also, we were shown that the organization Kara is researching these types of marks and has immense knowledge over it. They also know something about Otsutsuki’s world and other worlds. They seem pretty advanced, but in the recent chapter…

While the team was fighting Kashin Koji, who mercilessly killed Ao with ease, Konohamaru got caught with Koji’s surprise attack and was nearly going to die. Just then, our boy Uzumaki Boruto Snapped and just absorbed all the ‘ninjutsu’ per say. At this moment, the name of the seal / curse mark / power was also revealed. The name is …

KARMA! Pretty cliched huh? Well, as per the translation note, the word Karma in Japanese is written as ‘Bond’ or ‘Lynchpin’. This emphasizes the fact that whoever possesses this mark is GREATLY connected to the parent organization which in our case is the Otsutsuki clan. Now, everything is starting to make sense, isn’t it?

As explained by Kashin Koji, Boruto obtained this power because he was the one who defeated Momoshiki and not Naruto. This means, Kara was assuming that Naruto was the one who had the curse mark all this time? That kinda makes sense now. Also, Boruto wasn’t able to control the power properly because it was his first time using it.

But wait… Then how the hell did Kawaki get his Curse Mark? Did he defeat a ‘god’ as well? In our case, someone from the royal lineage / higher up ofOtsutsuki clan?
