Are you ready for Tanya’s return?

Saga of Tanya the Evil (Youjo Senki) is returning with a sequel film on February 8, 2019. The original story takes place after the TV series’ events. Sanya and her battalion are ordered to mobilize near the Russy Federation due to the appearance of a multinational army led by the Allied Kingdom. Among the allies is Mary Sioux, a girl who has sworn vengeance against the Empire for the death of her father.

Most of the original staff and cast are returning for the film, which is being directed by Yutaka Uemura. Back in January, Uemura thanked fan support for getting the film greenlit and he said that he wants to focus on developing Tanya’s troops. Uemura also said that Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk is a major influence on the film.

Carlo Zen and Shinobu Shinotsuki launched Youjo Senki in 2013. The dark isekai series stars a ruthless salaryman being reincarnated as a child soldier living in a war-torn world. As Sanya Degurechaff, she works to get a cushy promotion but is instead sent to the frontlines due to constant success on the battlefield.
