The True Power of Logia’s Elemental Abilities

Logia Devil Fruits are the most powerful class of Devil Fruit overall and boast some of the best abilities overall. But they seem to be able to go beyond what “natural” version of their element can do.

See the following example:

1-Akainu’s Magu Magu no Mi

The heat of magma vaporizes the steel of the sword. In the real world, steel doesn’t melt like that on contact with lava or magma.

This leads to the conclusion the Logia’s heat is far superior to that of what occurs naturally. The fact that the steel is vaporized puts it in the same league as a plasma torch.

2-Kuzan’s Hie Hie no Mi

These massive bodies of water are frozen solid in an instant. We also see this with living target’s at other times, where they are instantly frozen solid.
To achieve this, Kuzan would have to be generating cold well below absolute zero.

3-Crocodile’s Suna Suna no Mi

Crocodile near instantly can suck all the water out of a target. While sand can weather, errod and dry things out, it doesn’t happen nearly as quickly as it happens in the series.

So what am I getting at? Well, these three Logias are example of what many people believe to be Awakened Logias.

So I believe that Logias once awakened can enhance the attributes of the properties of the elements they control. The above examples, Magma, Ice and Sand could all do what they do in the series, but it would take incredibly long and the elements would have to unaffected by exposing them to the targets.
What leads me to believe these are awakened properties is the fact we don’t see these types of extremes in all Logia. Smoker and Caribou for example, who appear to be less refined in there fruit use, don’t express anything like what we see in the three fruits mentioned, they don’t have that “extra” factor that makes them much more dangerous.

Crocodile alludes to this when he fights Luffy the second time when he says “The power of sand lies in it’s absolute dryness”

and this is the aspect of his power that was enhanced. Like Ice’s strongest aspect is it’s cold and Magma’s is it’s heat. These traits I believe are determined by what environment these elements dominate.

So in summation. Logias, in addition to generating, controlling and becoming their elements, they can enhance the inherent properties of the fruits to supernatural levels when they awaken them. This would explain how they are able to so quickly alter environments to match there element type.
