Saint Young Men comedy manga/anime gets live-action TV series, to premiere in summer 2018

Hikaru Nakamura’s Saint Young Men (Saint Onii-san) manga is certainly one of the most hilarious manga out there. It follows a What if? scenario where Jesus and Buddha live together in a Tokyo apartment. Now, that very hilarious comedy manga is getting itself a live-action TV series.

Kenichi Matsuyama (live-action Death Note) will play Jesus, while Shouta Sometani (live-action Parasyte) will play Buddha in this live-action TV show. Meanwhile, live-action Gintama‘s Yuuichi Fukuda will be directing it.  And during the recent “Piccoma Monogatari 2018” event, they announced that it will premiere online this Summer 2018.

The comedy manga won plenty of awards, including the 13th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2009. It has also earned much critical acclaim through the years. Its anime adaptation also garnered much praise. Now with this new live-action series, fans are wondering how it will do, as it’s going to live up to such a big reputation.
